Pattern drafting Part 1 – a.k.a. Making clothes for yourself that actually fit!

This course is for anyone with a basic level of machine sewing experience who wants to make clothes that actually fit.  Perhaps you’ve tried using commercial patterns but the bust never sits right, the neck gapes or you have saggy bits under the arms!

Take the mystery out of the fit issues and join our fantastic dressmaking tutor Maddison as she guides you through designing your own patterns using your personal measurements.

This is an intensive 1 day course and you will leave the course full of skills, knowledge and sporting a beautiful new bodice pattern (block) that fits you perfectly!  Here’s what’s covered:

During the course you will learn how to take a full set of measurements and create a custom fit bodice block, to use again and again, meaning perfectly fitting clothes every time. You will leave with a toile of the block that you have made to know that the pattern is a perfect fit.

Once you have this block and the knowledge gained you can combine it with commercial patterns to ensure a perfect fit EVERY TIME!!

You can then move onto our Part 2 course where you will make an actual top, learn to alter necklines, move darts and add different style sleeves.

Pupils are required to bring 1.5 metres of calico to use to create bodice blocks and toiles from.

Payment plan available, please contact us if you would like to spread the cost.
