Wed 17th April (10.00 – 15.00)
This class has been designed for parents/carers and their children to learn to sew together. Aimed at Senior school aged children and those with a very good attention span! If you have both been harboring the urge to sew then this class is for you. It is suitable for complete beginners.
We will start with a quick run through of a sewing machine and how to thread it. You will then go on to both make a lined and quilted fabric box with a gusset base as well as a tote bag. Both of these items will show you all of the basic construction techniques for most home/craft sewing projects and give you a great understanding of the sewing machine.
Each place is £55 and includes all materials but the class has been listed as £110 to ensure that only pairs sign up. We regret children can not attend without an adult as this course is designed for you to learn together. If you have 2 siblings wanting to attend with one parent please contact us to book and we can send you a separate payment invoice. The additional sibling cost will be £55.
Some cutting out and preparation will be done in advance of the class to ensure that the maximum time can be spent sewing. You will receive patterns and instructions for both the items you make so that you can go on to make them again at home. You will be using in-house sewing machines. If you would like to get to know your own sewing machine then you can book a ‘Get to Know Your Sewing Machine’ session with us (please visit the One2One section to view full details).
This workshop is limited to 6 pupils (3 pairs) to ensure a high level of tuition. Each participant will make the items stated and you will both go home with 2 finished articles.
Class dates are available during most school holidays, if there are no dates listed we are in the process of planning. Please feel free to contact us to put on a suitable date for you.
