This pattern is a perfect start if you have never sewn with jersey before or are ready to try your hand at something a little closer fitted.
The lady skater is an extremely flattering garment, sitting close to the chest and gently floating out around the waist into a twirly skater style skirt.
The neck and sleeves have small bands giving a neat finishing touch and you learn a number of very valuable fitting skills when making this dress.
Previous sewing experience is required but you do not have to have done a dressmaking course before. Ideally you will have a good understanding of how a sewing machine works and are confident with sewing curves and fastening seams etc.
The pattern is a PDF pattern and is not included in the cost of the class. You will need to visit the following link LADY SKATER PATTERN and purchase and download your own copy. Please print the pattern following the print instructions included and stick it together at home. We will send you a video via email explaining how best to print and stick together. Please do not cut it out of the paper as we will cover sizing at the start of the class before moving on to cutting out our fabrics.
You will also need fabric for your garment and this is also available from the same website. We recommend you purchase from Kitschy Coo or Pink Scissors to ensure you are getting the perfect jersey for your chosen pattern.
Pink Scissors offers a 12% discount on all jersey fabric from http://www.pinkscissorsfabric.com just use code Pink12 at the checkout.
The lovely Amanda at Kitschy Coo has set up a discount for 15% off everything you need (asides from the sellotape) using the code beautifulthings at the checkout which will give you a nice little treat upon paying.
You can choose to make a short or long sleeved dress in class and will go home at the end of the day with a finished garment. We will be making the dress on our in-house sewing machines but advice will be given for you if you wish to make one using your overlocker at home at a later date.
