Sat 25th May, 15th June & 6th July (9.30 – 12.30), Fri 24th May, 14th June & 5th July (9.30 – 12.30)
If you have already learnt to knit and can follow a basic pattern then now is the time to master knitting in the round using DPN’s (Double pointed needles).
Working with 5 DPN’s in total you will work a pair of socks from the cuff down to the toe, making a ribbed cuff, turning the heel flap and closing the toe with a kitchener stitch.
You need no previous experience of working with DPN’s these will be provided for you and the technique will be taught to you from scratch.
Please provide 1 ball of sock yarn for your class. Our tutor Carol recommends Regia or Opal 4 ply sock yarn. Stylecraft also do a lovely sock yarn called Head over heels and the West Yorkshire spinners sock yarns are also lovely. We recommend a set of 2.5mm DPN’s Knit Pro symfonie 15mm long are a good length or 2.5mm karbonz. Both are linked in our amazon store here
This course works across 3 separate dates over 9 weeks to enable you to work at home between sessions to complete a pair of socks.
Carol our resident knitting teacher will work with you all on an individual basis to ensure you work at a pace that suits you.
You are welcome to join us at crochet & knitting club to work on your socks in between classes if you wish (no formal tuition is available at these sessions but there are often sock knitters present who can help you with the odd dropped stitch)!
