Are you scared of sewing with jersey fabrics? You really don’t need to be.

Stretch fabrics are wonderfully versatile and flattering to most body shapes and can be put together quickly and easily using just a sewing machine.  No need for darts, zippers, fastenings, linings or any fancy jiggery pokery.  It is dressmaking made SIMPLE.

Don’t be scared, bite the bullet and let Claire guide you through all the methods, tips and tricks needed to make jersey garments quickly and easily without any fuss.

This course has been developed for those of you who are unable to attend our physical workshops at our Brentwood based studio due to location or timing difficulties.

We have put together £180 worth of physical courses (making 3 garments) with online support and tuition to create this 13 week programme where we will hold your hand every step of the way, guiding you through week by week until you have 3 finished articles of clothing (possibly more if you are super speedy)!!

During the course you will not only create 3 complete garments for either adults, children or both. But you will also learn

  • How to work with PDF patterns
  • How to measure yourself correctly
  • How to set up your machine to sew stretch fabrics (overlocker and serger tips will be included but are NOT a requirement)
  • How to trace patterns
  • How to cut out jersey
  • Options for hemming
  • How to calculate adding waist/cuff/ankle/neck bands into any garment regardless of the patten

The 3 garments you will make are:

  1. Raglan top in an adult or child size (3m – 12)
  2. PJ bottoms (Adults) or Baby leggings (0-4) /PJ Bottoms (4 – 12) (child) – Both are cuffed at the ankle with a soft yoga style waistband
  3. A skater dress Adult or child size (18m – 8y)

The course fees cover your tuition (video trainings) sent out via email every week and access to an online support group (facebook group). You will be added to the group once you have purchased your course.

You will also be required to purchase patterns and fabric for your course as per our physical classes. (Details of these will be found in the group).  As a rough guide patterns will cost between £15 – £20 in total depending on your choice of adult or child size. Fabrics will cost between £20 – £50 again depending on your choice of adult or child sizes.  You will be provided with discount codes for all the patterns as well as some online fabric stores and we will recommend other low cost suppliers to you at the beginning of your course.

Sign up is now open and the course will begin on 4th February 2019 (You will not need to be in possession of your fabric until a couple of weeks later so there is time to buy).  You can enrol now using the BOOK NOW button at the bottom of this post for a one off upfront fee of £95.00 (A saving of £15)

Alternatively you can pay in 3 instalments of £35.00.  (1st payment due immediately and the following 2 will be taken automatically a month apart from each other).  Use the subscribe button on this page for the instalment plan. (Please note you can cancel this subscription at any time but access to the course will cease should you decide to cancel mid way through)

Once you are signed up and added to the group you will find details of the patterns and fabrics along with some handy videos to get you all set up and ready to roll on the 4th Feb.  The sooner you can get in the more prepared to start you can be, but doors will be open until Monday 4th Feb.

This course will run again in Spring 2019.

What a brilliant course! I was being bogged down with life, not able to fit any face-to-face classes and then this arrived. Easy to follow tutorials to make 3 garments including machine set ups and a dedicated Facebook group for peer support. I worked at my own pace in my own time and could always contact Claire if I needed. Do not hesitate, it’s awesome. I’m so pleased I found the course and can fit it around me!!
