Sometimes a large garment project can seem- daunting even when the pattern is simple.
At BTHQ we want to help you work your way through making this fabulous poncho with our help.
Spread out over 3 months you can take it slow, spending the 1st session making your cowl neck, the 2nd working on the stripes and in the final session adding the edging and either tassels or a picot point border if tassels are not your thing.
Do you want to know the best bit? You don't even have to be an expert crochetter to achieve this. As long as you know how to hold your yarn correctly and can do a treble crochet stitch it's all you need! Worked in a chunky or aran weight yarn using a 6mm hook it's really very very simple.
The pattern was originally published in Simply Crochet in 2015 but we have re-written it to make it simpler and clearer to understand. Each month you will receive printed instructions and 3 hours of tuition to complete each section of the garment, with homework in between classes.
The classes have been spread out across the 3 months leading up to Spring so you will have a completed garment to wear as the weather removes the need for a coat. If it's not for you why not get a head start on a present for a friend or family member for next winter?
You will need 5 balls of your main colour (neck and base) & 2 balls of each of your 3 stripe colours (11 balls in total). We recommend Stylecraft Special chunky for a super warm poncho like ours or if you want something a little less toasty Stylecraft Special Aran weight.
If you cannot make 1 of the 3 dates this CAL runs for then we can arrange for you to undertake the session at one of our craft clubs instead.
