This course is for anyone with a basic level of machine sewing experience who wants to make clothes that actually fit. Perhaps you’ve tried using commercial patterns but the bust never sits right, the neck gapes or you have saggy bits under the arms!
Take the mystery out of the fit issues and join our fantastic dressmaking tutor Maddison as she guides you through designing your own patterns using your personal measurements.
This is an intensive 2 day course and you will leave the course full of skills, knowledge and sporting a beautiful new custom made top! Here’s what’s covered:
During the course you will learn how to take a full set of measurements and create a custom fit bodice block, to use again and again, meaning perfectly fitting clothes every time. You will learn how to alter the necklines, move the darts and add sleeves to create a beautiful top all at your own pace.
You can then create a skirt on our simple skirts in a day course or circle skirt workshop and combine your top and skirt to make a wonderful dress!
Once you have this block and the knowledge gained you can combine it with commercial patterns to ensure a perfect fit EVERY TIME!!
Pupils are required to bring 3 metres of calico to use to create bodice blocks and toiles from. You will also need to purchase the fabric for your final top we recommend 1.5 metres of 100% cotton. (at least 100cm wide or wider)
Payment plan available, please contact us if you would like to spread the cost.
