Intro to Kumihimo
This traditional art of Japanese braiding is formed of interlacing strands of thread/yarn to create a strong and durable braid. Kumi himo is Japanese for “gathered threads”.
Maddison will take you through measuring your lengths of yarn, setting up your disc and getting you braiding. Learn the basics in this traditional art and you’ll be braiding in no time at all. Even the kids can do it!
The repetitive process of braid making is easy on the hands, can be very therapeutic and once you’re in a rhythm, can be done sitting in front of the TV too.
All materials will be provided.
As this class takes place during school holidays we welcome pupils aged 11+ but a space must be bought for them to accompany an adult.
